Coiled Spring Pins

Why choose Coiled Spring Pins?

Coiled Spring Pins are versatile spring pins made by rolling a thin metal sheet into a narrow, hollow spiral. This type of pin is an excellent shock absorber for the rest of the assembly and a fastener with excellent strength and flexibility. They are typically used as hinge pins and pivots to locate and align two assembly parts, such as attaching a gear to the shaft or collar. Like slotted spring pins, coiled pins are progressively rolled to a slightly larger diameter so that once the pin is installed, the generated radial forces hold the pin securely in place.

The Types of Coiled Spring Pins

Coiled Spring Pins come in three different types with varying strength and flexibility: standard, heavy-duty, and light-duty. The optimal combination of strength, flexibility, and pin size will prolong the life of the pins and the assembly. Driv-Lok can manufacture all of these pins in standard and custom dimensions.

Standard Duty

Standard-duty or medium-duty coiled pins are best suited to nonferrous and mild steel assemblies. They offer the optimal combination of strength and flexibility and are preferred in applications that need to withstand applied force and absorb vibration.

Light Duty

Light-duty coiled pins are excellent for soft, brittle, or thin materials such as plastics and aluminum and assemblies that require holes close to their edges. They offer easy installation and are best for assemblies that won’t undergo large amounts of force.

Heavy Duty

Heavy-duty pins are valued for their strength, especially in applications that require sufficient flexibility to absorb shock while still providing excellent resistance to fatigue.
